We are saddened to share with you the passing of Lorraine G. Spar, beloved mother of Dr. Brian Spar (Linda), Warren Spar (Stephanie) and Karen Spar Kasner (Jay), at age of 98.

Grandmother to Alexandra (Jason),Brett (Ali), Jacqueline (Ben), Jared (Jennifer) and Jason (Brianne) and great-grandmother to Graham, Madeline, Sophie, Annabelle, Eleanor, Clare, Charlotte, Penelope and Emerson.

She was cherished daughter of Fannie & Ruben Greenspan.

Lorraine led the way with her intellect as those who knew her can attest to. She was a history buff and an avid bridge player until 7 months ago!  She graduated with an associates degree from George Washington University, worked at the Library of Congress, was a junior accountant for several financial firms in Rochester, New York, was the treasurer for many non-profits in Rochester and in Florida. Indeed, she was awarded a citation in the War Finance Program at the United States Treasury Department in 1946. She was predeceased by Dad (Irving L. Spar) who was a force in his own way, having served as Senior Associate Dean of Graduate Studies at the University of Rochester Medical School and ran a lab there on immunology and the use of radioactive isotopes in medical research and treatment, a prelude to the treatments developed and used today for cancer.
