IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Lottie Lorraine
Mosher
March 3, 1943 – June 16, 2023
With her family by her side, Lottie Lorraine Mosher passed away on June 16, 2023, after battling cancer for many years. Lottie was born on March 3, 1943 in Brooklyn, NY to Harry and Selma Fisher. She had a younger sister Jeanette (Drath), who predeceased Lottie in 1992. Lottie met the love of her life - David Mosher - at the Jamaica Jewish Center when they were both 15 years old. They married in 1964 and moved to Princeton, NJ, where David completed a Ph.D. in Physics and Lottie worked as an elementary school teacher. Their daughter Allyson was born in New Mexico in 1968 and Rachel soon followed in 1970, after they had moved to Columbus, Ohio. The family moved to Northern Virginia in 1972, where multiple generations have since settled, enjoying the family motto "We Don't Move." Lottie completed her master's in Sociology at American University in 1975, worked as a researcher for a few years, before returning to her real passion - teaching children. She had a long and rewarding career in Fairfax County public schools.
After her retirement, she and David spent their time traveling extensively, attending concerts and theater, taking care of and spending time with their four grandchildren and sons-in-laws, and learning - always learning new things - with friends. Lottie loved to experience everything life had to offer and was always happy to be in new places and trying new things, with friends and family. Her greatest pride was her family and she got the most joy from celebrating the many traditions she started that revolved around holidays, birthdays, and life with the people she loved.
Lottie is survived by her husband of 59 years, David, her children Allyson and Rachel, along with their husbands Sven and David, and her grandchildren, Sam, Elijah, Emma, and Aaron. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 19, 2023, 1 pm at Bethesda Jewish Congregation, with interment to follow at King David Memorial Gardens. Shiva will be held for three nights on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, beginning at 7pm and with a minyan at 7:30pm, at the Mosher residence.
Donations in Lottie's memory can be made to Inova Schar Cancer Institute.
