Obituary

Marcia Lee Zeff, 88, of Paramus, NJ, died Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Valley Hospital following complications from surgery. Marcia was born in Chicago, May 29, 1936, to Sylvia and Henry Zeff, and later moved with her family to Los Angeles. As a girl she loved to sing, and neighbors would ask her parent to keep their windows open so they could hear Marcia's lovely voice. She also appeared on Art Linkletter's radio program.

Marcia spent the bulk of her years in Bethesda, MD, and earned a Bachelor's Degree (cum laude) from the University of Maryland College Park. She was married for 30 years and raised a daughter. Marcia worked for several years as a health educator for Planned Parenthood of Montgomery County. At various times she also managed a dress store and worked for a temple in Washington, DC. She loved to sew, bake, play board games, get together with friends, and spend time with her two granddaughters. Her love of classical music and opera continued throughout her life, and friends and family knew it made her happy when they sent her pictures of opera houses around the world. She loved baseball, and even in the hospital she would smile when anyone mentioned her beloved New York Yankees.

Marcia leaves a daughter, Maureen Mayer (Stuart) of Montclair, NJ, two granddaughters, Sarah and Rachel, and several close cousins. A graveside service was held in Maryland on November 1, and a memorial service will be held at 1 pm on Sunday, November 24, at Brightview Senior Living, 396 Forest Avenue, Paramus, NJ, where she spent the last three years of her life and made many friends.
