Obituary

Marilyn Tucker, a resident of Chevy Chase, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2026, at the age of 85, after a brief illness.

She was the beloved wife of Stef Tucker; devoted mother of Matthew (Jane) Tucker and Lawrence Tucker; loving sister of Stuart (Linda) Miller and Marcy Tucker Colman; cherished grandmother of Ryan, Jack, Ethan, and Dylan Tucker; and beloved aunt of Ryan (Jessica) Miller, Aaron (Lumei) Miller, Zack (Bina) Colman, and Jessica (Eric) Colman Cheng.

Born in Camden, New Jersey, in 1940 to Reuben and Marcy Miller, Marilyn received her B.A. in English from the University of Michigan and a master’s in counseling from George Washington University.

Marilyn spent a lifetime dedicated to helping people as a career counselor, first at Northern Virginia Community College, then at George Washington University, and, finally, spending 41 years at Georgetown University Law Center, where she served her final years as the Director of Alumni Career Services and International Internship Programs.

Friends, family, and thousands of students and alumni will remember Marilyn for her warmth, wisdom, and genuine caring. To Marilyn, career counseling was not just a profession, but a calling. She dedicated her life to serving those she counseled, acting as a fierce advocate, a steady anchor, and a lifelong mentor to generations of aspiring lawyers. Her passion for her work on behalf of the Georgetown Law community was unrivaled; she possessed a rare ability to see the unique potential in every individual who walked through her door, helping them navigate not just their careers, but their lives.

Marilyn was beloved by the Georgetown Law family, from the Dean of the School to the parking attendants, and in many ways, she was an indispensable pillar of the school during her time there. In fact, Dean William Treanor said of Marilyn, that she was the “heart and soul of Georgetown Law.”

The family will forever cherish the countless stories of her profound impact, which will live on through the generations of professionals she helped guide.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, June 12, 2026, 1:30 PM at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec Street NW, Washington, DC 20008, with burial to follow at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park, Clarksburg, MD.
