Marjorie
Rothschild
Jun 22, 1950 — Jun 22, 2026
Marjorie Ulman Rothschild of Potomac, Maryland, passed away suddenly on Monday, June 22, 2026 — her 76th birthday.
Marjorie was the daughter of Arlene Tuck Ulman and Leon Ulman. She was born on June 22, 1950 in Washington, DC and spent most of her life in the DC area. A beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, she was known for her love of nature and animals, particularly horses and dogs, her interest in history, and the sense of humor she shared with those near and dear.
A true Washingtonian, Marjorie dedicated her career to public service. After graduating from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High School, she studied history at the University of Wisconsin-Madison and earned a law degree from Southern Methodist University. She then worked for more than thirty years as an attorney for the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission, where she was deeply committed to ensuring the safety of communities living near nuclear facilities. She drafted and interpreted NRC regulations governing the safe management of nuclear medicine.
Her greatest happiness came from her family, especially her three grandsons. She delighted in every story they shared, celebrated each milestone, and cherished every moment with them. She never missed an opportunity to stop and admire a horse or greet a friendly dog.
In retirement, Marjorie enjoyed participating in the Potomac Rotary Club, spending time with her many friends from Brooke Grove Farm community and her former colleagues at the NRC, and, above all, being with her family.
Marjorie is survived by her husband of more than forty-five years, Irwin “Trip” Rothschild III; her daughters, Sarah Schakow (Michael Schakow), Amy Rothschild (Ben Eidelson); and her three cherished grandsons—Jack, Noam, and Adam. She was preceded in death by her brother, Richard Ulman.
The family will announce plans to celebrate Marjorie's life at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family welcomes donations made in her memory to Days End Farm Horse Rescue. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Funeral Care.
