Obituary

Mark Zwilsky, a son, brother, father and grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2022, at the age of 64. After privately battling liver cancer, he died peacefully in his home in Leesburg, Virginia.

Mark was born on July 3, 1958 to Klaus and Roberta (Bobbie) Zwilsky in Boston, Massachusetts. Known as a troublemaker throughout his childhood in Montgomery County, Maryland, Mark was proud of the fact he was asked to leave Churchill High School prior to graduating. After earning his GED, Mark went on to Greenville Technical Institute. He married the love of his life, Mary Zwilsky on April 30, 1993. Mark was proud to watch his children, Eric Zwilsky, Sarah Zwilsky and Jeremy Wong excel in sports and later on in business and parenthood. He loved spoiling his grandchildren - Max Zwilsky, Casen Zwilsky, Julia Wong, Quinn Zwilsky, Russell Wong, Alice Meador and Charlotte Wong.

In 1996, Mark Zwilsky founded Potomac Metals Incorporated on a hope and a prayer, leasing a small warehouse with only two employees. During his 25 years of leadership, he expanded his company to nine locations and over 125 employees. Mark believed in his dream and the employees who helped build Potomac Metals to become one of the largest metal recycling companies on the East Coast today.

Mark loved to spend his free time traveling in his RV. He enjoyed his retirement by visiting National Parks, historical musical landmarks and to his favorite, the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally.

Mark was a hero to many. He is a true American dream success story. Mark was loved by everyone and will be greatly missed. His legacy will live on forever in his children, grandchildren and Potomac Metals.

Funeral Service will be held on Friday, December 23, 2022, 12 p.m. at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Rd, Rockville, MD 20850 with interment to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD.
