Obituary

Marvin Fabrikant, 67, beloved husband of Patricia "Patty" Fabrikant (nee Carlin) passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, March 11, 2012. Born in Elizabeth, New Jersey, he was the son of the late David Fabrikant and the late Anna Fabrikant (nee Freeman). He is also preceded in death by his brother, Joel Fabrikant.Mr. Fabrikant was a graduate of the University of Pennsylvania and the American University Washington College of , and practiced criminal law in Washington DC for nearly a decade before transitioning into real estate investment. He had a passion for work and a tremendous ability to connect with people. Marvin was beloved by friends, business partners, employees and family for his unique sense of humor, generosity, and innate ability to connect with people. His creative pursuits extended beyond business to patenting inventions, exploring American History, restoring antique hardware, and endless do-it-yourself projects. His 30-year career in real estate included being a founding partner of a prominent DC retail investment firm, and other private real estate investments in DC and the Outer Banks, NC. He was an involved and conscientious parent and community member - serving as Parent Teacher Association co-President at Horace Mann Elementary school, coaching soccer teams, serving on the Jelleff Boys & Girls Club, and serving on the board of directors at Century National Bank and Washington First Bank.Marvin was a loving husband, father, brother, uncle and grandfather. He is survived by his family, who he loved more than anything; his wife Patty, three sons, Jason Fabrikant and wife Joanna, Jeffrey Fabrikant, Michael Fabrikant all of Washington, DC, and his daughter, Heather Fabrikant and husband Ben Barry of Kyiv, Ukraine and their daughert Isabel Rozsa Barry, and his two brothers, Robert Fabrikant of Washington, DC and Mel Fabrikant of Paramus, New Jersey, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews, and in-laws.Funeral Service will be held at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb Street Northwest, Washington, DC 20016 on Friday, March 16, 2012 at 11:00 am with burial following the service in the Judean-Norbeck Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Jewish Community of the Outer Banks or the Social Justice Center Fund, c/o Washington Hebrew Congregation.
