On February 12, 2023, our kind, gentle, and creative son Matt left us far too early. He was a talented musician and artist and good friend to everyone who had the great fortune to know him. He enriched the lives of all he touched. He was both a chef and performer, dedicated to his beloved restaurants/musical venues Slash Run and The Runaway in Washington, DC.  He is survived by us, his parents, Donna Orem and Richard Mirsky, and his long-time love, Susan Warner. He is also survived by his uncle, Bill Orem, and two cherished cousins, Samantha Bickerstaff and Lana Orem. Matt also left behind a family of cats, whom he loved dearly—Norman, Yinni, and Snail. They will miss his warm embraces and gentle pats. A service to celebrate his life will be held on February 18 at 1 pm at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, MD (details below).
