Obituary

Pearl S. McLane, 89, beloved mother and pastor and long-time resident of Rockville, MD  passed away on March 11, 2022, from Staph Aureus Sepsis and UTI at Cadia HealthCare Wheaton. Born in the Bronx, NY to Anna and Joseph Abrams of blessed memory, she is also pre-deceased by two half-brothers, Lester and Bernard Migdol, her first (divorced) and second husbands, Solomon H. Schackner and Robert McLane, and her granddog Bentley. She is survived by her devoted daughter and staunch advocate, Debra Schackner also of Rockville, and her granddog Gus. McLane resided and raised her daughter in Flatbush and Sheepshead Bay, Brooklyn prior to relocating to the DC metro area in 1996. She was a natural leader at an early age in school as an air-raid monitor  during World-War II. She had dreams of becoming a doctor, but her family discouraged women from attending college and she had to work to help support them. However, she later worked for one while attending classes at Brooklyn College. She then spent tireless years commuting to New York City for executive secretary jobs on Wall Street prior to launching her bible ministry, "Dove of Life Ministries" at the age of 53. Her new found faith as a Jewish believer in Christ in 1967 set the groundwork for McLane to become a minister, a bible prophesy scholar and teacher, a Zionist, and a tour group leader who lead Christians to Israel 17 times during Sukkot and her daughter in 1993.

Despite her belief in Jesus Christ, McLane upheld her Jewish culture, customs and enjoyed holidays with her daughter and her friends. She was instrumental in repeatedly supporting the emigration of Jews from Russia and Ethiopia to Israel. She was listed in Who's Who in Clergy and Executives and appeared on several Christian broadcasts on TBN and other networks in Canada and the US. McLane was proud of and loved her daughter, God, Israel, and organizing large banquets with Israeli dance, music, and colorful banners. She had a beautiful soprano voice and loved to sing and dance, the Catskill mountains, pools, and the beach, coffee, carvel ice cream cake, and medium-rare roast beef, cooking, preparing Passover seders, attending Broadway and her daughter's school/college shows, and all dogs.  Authentic, funny, spirit-filled, gregarious, strong-willed and wise, she did it "her way." She counseled many who considered her their "Spiritual Mother."  Despite a decade or more of declining health challenges to include glaucoma and blindness (one eye), significant hearing loss, musculoskeletal disorders, falls, and chronic pain, cardiovascular disease and vascular dementia worsened by hospital and nursing home acquired infections, and adverse facility conditions, her faith never wavered. Towards the end as her energy and verbal capacity dwindled,  she broke out singing Psalm 27, "The Lord is my strength and my salvation, whom then shall I fear."  May her soul fly high to the highest place in heaven.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews at help.ifcg.org or ifcg.org, or the National Consumer Voice for Long Term Care at consumervoice.org. The IFCG is currently bringing the Jews out from the Ukraine to Israel.

Funeral Services were held at Sagel Bloomfield at noon on March 16 (and zoom) led by Rabbi Tamara Miller,  followed by Interment at Ocean View Cemetery in Staten Island NY on March 17, and shiva at the funeral home Sunday, March 20, 2022.
