Petrona Ofelia Arevalo Veliz, 81 years of age, was delivered to glory on February 2, 2021.

Born November 26, 1939 Ofelia and Isaias married in 1961 and were 3 months shy of celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary.  Ofelia and her husband, Isaias Veliz, immigrated from Guatemala and began their journey in America in 1965.  They made their home in Montgomery County, MD. and raised their family of four in Wheaton, MD.  A faithful servant of the living God, she lived for Christ and her death was gained as an eternal resident in Glory.  She was a faithful wife, a loving mother, an adoring grandmother and a fierce prayer warrior.  Her legacy was her faith and it shall be carried on by her devoted family.

She loved all of her family with all her heart with endless prayer and protection. Selfless, generous, and unbelievably sweet with a smile that made her face, it lit up a room that touched everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her. To say she was blessed is an understatement, she was divinely favored. She had been blessed tremendously with an undying faith to the very end.

It was through her faith she conquered life, it was through her faith she faced trials, it was because of her faith she stood firmly planted in the word of God. To anyone who knew her, knew her faith was embedded into her being and her act of character. To her, living was living freely in Christ.

Survived by husband Isaias Veliz; children Ruth Juarez, Joel Veliz, Julie Shrader and Debbie Chopas; grandchildren: Angelica Veliz, Benjamin Juarez, Zachary Veliz, Sara Juarez, Nicholas Shrader, Luke Shrader, Grace Veliz, Timothy Joel Shrader, Eva Lena Shrader, Talullah Chopas,   Titus Chopas, and great granddaughter Chole Bell.
