IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Renee
Nelson
September 8, 1942 – May 31, 2024
Renee (Ronni) Carole Nelson (nee Levine) of Silver Spring, Maryland, died unexpectedly on May 31, 2024. She was born to Jack and Dora Levine on September 8, 1942, in Washington, DC. Ronni was the mother of Jennifer Nelson and Adam Nelson (Maya); grandmother of Jacob, Lucy, and Nathan Nelson; sister of Barbara Cronin; an aunt and great-aunt; and devoted dog mom to Max (who will be cared for by granddaughter Lucy) and Tia Louise (who will be cared for by her veterinarian).
Ronni was a graduate of Montgomery Blair High School and the University of Maryland, College Park. She spent the majority of her career as an Administrative Lab Manager at the National Institutes of Health. In retirement, she became a pet sitter. Dogs would stay at her house and be loved as if they were her own. She might occasionally yell at the menagerie, yet she loved (almost) all of them. She was pre-deceased by many pets, including, most recently, her beloved Sunshine.
In addition to her family, friends and dogs, she loved a venti from Starbucks, Barry Manilow, mystery novels, HGTV, and a Dewar's on the rocks with a twist.
The family held a small remembrance. Memorial donations may be made to the Ronni Nelson Animal Care Fund, a private fund in partnership with Ronni's preferred animal hospital to assist humans in need of financial assistance obtain necessary medical care for their pets. Donations may be sent directly to Jennifer Nelson, 501 N. Clinton Street, Chicago, IL 60654, or you may contact Jennifer directly to donate via her Venmo or PayPal.
