Robert Terry Schattner, of Rockville, MD, passed away on August 14, 2025, at the age of 72, surrounded by loved ones.

Born in Washington, D.C., on May 10, 1953, Robert lived a life defined by kindness, humor, and generosity. He graduated from George Washington University with a degree in Business and Finance Administration began his career in real estate development, building homes throughout the Washington, D.C. area before owning and operating Purofirst of Metropolitan Washington for over 30 years. Robert was especially proud of his work as a Director and Vice President of the Robert I. Schattner foundation where he oversaw grants to local charities close to his heart. He saw the foundation's work to be the most satisfying and rewarding mission of all and felt most fortunate to give back to the people who need the most help. Outside of work he loved golf, his boxing class, and especially the camaraderie of his family and life long friends. His greatest joy came from time spent with those he loved.

He is survived by his children, Samantha and Ian (Megan); his cherished grandchildren, Parker, Harley, Samuel, and Charlotte; his sister, Merle Rosen (Jack); nephews Gregg and Paul and loving partner Judy.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Elsie Schattner.

Known for his warmth and sense of humor, Robert had a gift for making people feel like instant friends. He leaves behind countless memories of family trips, holiday traditions, and the joy of simply being together.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday, August 24, 2025, at Woodmont Country Club from 12:00 to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service will begin promptly at 12:30 p.m. Friends and family are warmly invited to gather and share memories, stories and laughter—just as he would have wanted.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Robert's honor to the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network (PanCAN) .
