Robin
Riesner
December 28, 1940 – June 3, 2026
Robin Riesner, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away on June 3, 2026, in Bethesda, Maryland, after a brief illness. She was 85 years old.
Born in New York City on December 28, 1940, Robin grew up on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, where she attended the Calhoun School. College brought her to Washington, DC, where she earned her undergraduate degree from American University and a master’s in education from George Washington University.
Robin put down roots in Northern Virginia, raising her family in Herndon and Reston. She was a founding member of the Northern Virginia Hebrew Congregation in Reston and an active and joyful presence in the temple choir.
She went on to build a wide-ranging professional life that reflected her boundless curiosity and people skills. She worked as a family systems counselor at Fairfax County Juvenile Court and as an interior designer — before finding her true calling in luxury fashion sales. For years, Robin ranked among the top salespeople at St. John Knits, Escada, and Saks Fifth Avenue. She had a rare gift: she could sell anything, to anyone, anywhere, and she did it with genuine warmth and style.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Robin was a remarkable hostess and an inspired cook, endlessly creative, and a passionate traveler. She possessed an encyclopedic memory and a deep love of art, which she shared for several years as a docent at the Phoenix Art Museum. After three decades in Phoenix, she returned to the Washington area, settling in Bethesda — a homecoming that brought her close once again to family and lifelong friends.
Robin is survived by her daughters Wendy Feldman Block (Eben) and Lisa Feldman Goldstein (David); four grandchildren, Sydney Block, Aidan Block, Samantha Goldstein, and Alexia Goldstein; and her brother Tony Riesner (Flossie), along with beloved nieces and nephews.
She will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
Donations in Robin’s memory may be made to: Iona Senior Services or the Washington Hebrew Congregation – Directed to the Rabbi Susan N. Shankman Clergy Endowment Fund. Services entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care.
