Ricki Gottlieb (Rosalie) of Silver Spring, MD, died on Sunday, December 20, 2020 at the age of 94. She was the widow of the late Ray Murray Gottlieb, who died in 1995, and beloved sister of the late Natalie (Nicky) Luchton and the late Helen Kaplan. Predeceased by her niece, Carole Binswanger
She is survived by her twin sons, Danny (Larue) and Harry (Marjorie), and her grandchildren: Adam, Danielle, Alexis, Valerie and Halley Gottlieb, and great-granddaughter: Whitney. She is also survived by her niece, Estelle Grossman; nephew, Bennett Gottlieb; three great-nieces, Joy Rodriguez, Karen Morton and Michelle Lang; one great-nephew, Richard Grossman; five great-great nieces and three great-great nephews.
She was formerly employed with the Office of Alien Property until it merged with the Dept. of Justice in 1966. During her career with the Justice Dept., she was detailed to the investigation of the Watergate Scandal during Pres. Nixon's tenure at the White House. She began her Federal Career at the age of 15 and worked for 35 years until her retirement because of disability in 1979.
In 1955, Mrs. Gottlieb was invited to a Savings Bond Rally for Marlon Brando, and while there, she was tapped on the shoulder by a representative of Mr. Brando. He said that Marlon asked if she would sit beside him at the Head-Table during the rally. Brando was such a big star at that time that it made all the newspapers, T.V.'s, even going so far as to contact some of her relatives in Buenos Aires, Argentina, and questioning them.
She was the first Secretary and one of the founders of the Maryland Mothers of Twins Club that met monthly in Bethesda.
At the time of her death, she was a member of the D.A.V. Auxilliary, a Charter Member of the Holocaust Museum, a Charter Member of the Nat'l Women's History Museum, the Wheaton Chapter of B'nai Brith, the Foundation of the Statute of Liberty. She also called BINGO at Homecrest Nursing Home, worked at the Bombay Chest for Jewish Social Services, and was a member of the World War II Memorial. Because of her compassion, integrity and honesty, she retained life-long friends from as far back as her early childhood.
The family suggests that any expression of sympathy be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Services will be held privately at Mt. Lebanon Cemetery.
