IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Ruth W.
Kaplan
May 14, 1926 – November 10, 2024
On November 10th, 2024, Ruth Wertheim Kaplan, beloved wife of the late Stanley W. Kaplan; devoted mother of Richard and Susan Kaplan Rose (husband Henry S. Rose); Loving sister of the late Joan M. Levine; cherished grandmother of Brian, Stacey (Rubin) and Amy and great grandmother of Simon, Gabriel and Jonah Rose and Lucy Perkins.
She was a wonderful wife and mother and was delighted by her grandchildren and great grandchildren, pouring over recent photos and news of their activities up until the very end of her life. She had attended NYU with the hope of becoming a journalist. She decided to focus on family after her marriage in 1947, but Ruth took great pleasure in writing for community newsletters in New Jersey and Florida.
She and her sister, Joan, whom she loved dearly, grew up in a home in the Bronx filled with music and culture and love. In their 50's, the two sisters faithfully attended a Shakespeare discussion group together, which was a lovely experience to share. Ruth was a great reader and instilled in her children a lifelong love of the written word.
Ruth and Stanley, married for 69 years, were blessed to spend a long and loving life together. They began their journey together in New York City, lived in Plainfield, Cherry Hill, and Cliffside Park New Jersey, Yardley, Pennsylvania, and later in life also enjoyed spending time at a home in Boynton Beach, Florida. Eventually they moved to Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland where they we very near to Richard and Susan and could enjoy visits from the rest of the family. Ruth and Stanley's long and happy marriage included travels around the world, and Ruth proudly hung photographs she had taken in their kitchen.
After Susan and Richard left her charge, Ruth held jobs as an administrative assistant at Cherry Hill High School West and Snelling and Snelling in Cherry Hill, where she loved being part of her work families. During her lifetime, she had been active in temple sisterhoods and The American Heart Association.
