Samuel
Goldberg
Aug 12, 1928 — Oct 24, 2026
Samuel Goldberg was the beloved husband of Barbara; devoted father of Robert (Heidi), Tom (Linda), Margaret (the late Bernard), the late Karen (the late Mike), and Michael (Leslie); and cherished grandfather of 13 grandchildren: Jason, Claire, Hilary, Isabelle, Anna, Lara, Paige, Lauryn, Andrea, Rachel, Emily, Jesse, and Malachi. He was also the proud great-grandfather of 12.
Sam's distinguished career spanned more than four decades in government service and private industry. Following 18 years in executive government service, he worked for Senators Charles McC. Mathias Jr. of Maryland and John Heinz of Pennsylvania, and served at the Department of State under Secretary Henry Kissinger. He later joined the International Nickel Company (Inco), where he rose to become President of Inco U.S. before retiring at age 65.
In retirement, Sam pursued his lifelong passions for architecture and gardening. He designed and built additions to the family home and transformed its gardens into a beautiful oasis that would become the setting for the weddings of his daughters and granddaughters.
Sam was known for his unrivaled sense of duty, integrity, talent, grace, and nobility. He was beautiful, both inside and out. Everyone who met Sam was immediately taken with his kindness, generosity, and his warm sense of humor. He was a man who never put a foot wrong.
Sam died as he lived, peacefully and gracefully, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
The world lost one of the best.
“Good night, sweet prince,
And flights of angels sing thee to thy rest.”
