Sandra "Sandy" Edenbaum, loving wife for 72 years of the late Robert Edenbaum, cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and dear friend to all who knew her, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 15, 2025, at her residence in Jupiter, Florida. She was 93.
Sandy was born in Washington, DC, the daughter of Hilda and Michael Edlavitch. She graduated from the University of Maryland with a Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education.
She was a tremendous athlete and particularly enjoyed skiing, tennis, golf, and boating. Her love of the performing arts included ballet, theater, and classical music. Gyrotonics and playing the piano were part of her regular routine.
Sandy volunteered for years at the Service Guild, and was a founding supporter of Makom, formerly The Jewish Foundation for Group Homes. She and her late husband were long-time members of Admirals Cove, Woodmont Country Club, and Selby Bay Yacht Club.
Her greatest love was her family. She is survived by her three children, Robin Harris (Mason), Paul Edenbaum (Robin), and Gail Schwartz (Jonathan); seven grandchildren, Matthew Edenbaum (Rachael), Ross Edenbaum (Gaby), Stephanie Lyulkin (Matthew), Eric Harris (Jessie), Alison Kernus (Alex), Dana Harris (Victoria), Brandon Schwartz; four great-grandchildren, Eloise Mae Edenbaum, Lily James Edenbaum, Emerson Paige Edenbaum, Sophia Violet Lyulkin; and Letha Roach, a devoted and loving family member.
Sandy is also survived by her brother Irwin Edlavitch (Ginny),and predeceased by her sister Janis Weiner (Harold).
Graveside services will be held at King David Memorial Gardens, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia, on Sunday, June 22, at 11 a.m. Guests will be received later that same day at Woodmont Country Club, Rockville, Maryland, from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Minyan will be held at 6 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Makom in Rockville, Maryland, or a charity of your choice.
