Sandra "Sandy" Kaufax, 87, beloved daughter, sister, wife, mother, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, passed away April 17 in Rockville, Maryland at Shady Grove Hospital. She was born October 17, 1932, in the Bronx, New York to Murray and Lillian London. Sandy was preceded in death by her parents and husband of 61 years, Ronald "Ronnie" Kaufax.

Sandy is survived by her older brother, Harvey London of Lauderhill, Florida, her children Susan Neaman of Rockville, Maryland wife of Joel Neaman and Alan Kaufax of Alexandria, Virginia, husband of Tamara Derenak Kaufax; her grandchildren, Jaime Neaman Hutnick,(Aaron Hutnick) Marisa Neaman Witkin, (Alex Witkin) Lexi Neaman, (fiance Alex Fleischner) Matthew and Halle Kaufax; and her great grandchildren, Owen Witkin and Asher Hutnick.

Sandy was born and raised in the Bronx. She attended college in New York City, before marrying Ronnie in 1955 and moving to Queens to start a family. In Queens she was a devoted volunteer in the PTA of her children's schools. In 1972, the family moved to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where they lived in Squirrel Hill for over 40 years. In Pittsburgh, Sandy worked in the office of her husband's successful financial services company. Sandy appreciated music and a perfect night out included dinner with her husband, friends and attending a concert of the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra at Heinz Hall.  She was an avid reader and a skilled player in the games Mahjong and Canasta. She raised her family and sent her two children off to college. She and her husband frequently traveled to Las Vegas where they loved going to the casinos and delighted in the live performances. In 2016, she moved to Leisure World in Silver Spring, Maryland to be closer to her children and their families.

The family suggests memorial donations be directed to the American Stroke Association or the Alzheimer's Association in memory of Sandy.
