On October 21, 2014, Sherry Sherman of Bethesda MD, beloved wife of Cary Sherman, devoted mother of Melanie Kleinman (Jason) and Peter Sherman (Amira Richler), cherished grandmother of Aidan and Jake Kleinman, and beloved sister of Howard Stark. Sherry was born in 1948 in Schenectady, NY. She graduated from the University of Rochester in 1970, and earned a PhD from the University of Maryland in 1987. She spent most of her professional career at the National Institute on Aging of NIH, from which she retired in 2012. She focused on women's health issues and spearheaded the longest-running study on menopause ever done. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 10:00 AM at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec Street NW, Washington DC, with interment to follow at Judean Memorial Gardens, 16225 Batchellors Forest Road, Olney MD. The family will be observing shiva at the Sherman residence on Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday, with services each evening at 7:30 p.m. Contributions in Sherry's memory may be made to the National Organization for Women or the Sherry Sherman Scholarship Fund at Levine Music.
