On Sunday, January, 14 2024 Shirley Katz Kaufman of Potomac, Maryland passed away. Daughter of the late Charles and Betty Katz; beloved wife of Stuart Kaufman; devoted mother of Jay Kaufman (Bernice), Paula Mates (Alexander) and the late Arlene Kaufman Marlowe; loving sister of Frances Kiejdan-Lott (Dennis Lott); cherished grandmother of Jesse Mates (Haley), Tyler Mates, Nicholas Kaufman and Joshua Kaufman; great grandmother of Charlie Mates; also survived by many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, 2:30 p.m. at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Chapel, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, MD 20871 with interment to follow at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Park. Family will be observing Shiva on Wednesday from 5 p.m. until 9 p.m. with Minyan at 7 p.m. at the home of Stuart Kaufman. In lieu of flowers, family requests donations be made to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum ( ushmm.org ) to honor her as a Holocaust survivor.
