Obituary

A Life Well Lived

Stanley H. Helsel, son of Irving and Essie Helsel and brother to Harvey Helsel, born in Springfield, Massachusetts and raised in Brooklyn, New York, passed away on November 2, 2022. A graduate of James Madison High School, Syracuse University (Tau Delta Phi member), and New York University School of Law (JD & LLM). He served in the U.S. Army Audit Agency and practiced law. He was past president of Temple Beth Abraham (Tarrytown, NY), past president DiMarVa Chapter American Bell Assoc Intl, docent emeritus Neuberger Museum of Art (Purchase, NY), family historian, and tennis player. Resident of Bethesda, MD; formerly of Edgemont, NY.  Spent 69 exhilarating years with beloved wife Harryette Gordon sharing love of worldwide travel, ballet, theatre, opera, and sports. Loving father of Margi Helsel-Arnold (Scott Arnold), Jane Best (TJ Devadatta Best), Amy Helsel (Jeremy Swerling); and grandfather of Ian Arnold, Ari Swerling, Sheri Arnold, Solomon Swerling. Memorial donations can be made to Temple Beth Abraham Bridges Campaign or Neuberger Museum of Art. Graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, November 4, 2022 at New Montefiore Cemetery, 1180 Wellwood Avenue, West Babylon, New York 11704. His beautiful smile and joyful singing will be missed.
