Obituary

The family of Stephanie Patrice Lewis is devastated to announce her sudden passing on June 20, 2026, in a tragic accident. Stephanie was born in New Britain, Connecticut, on September 2, 1959, the youngest daughter of Thomas and Erma Siegfried (nee Hahn). She was raised in Stroudsburg, Pennsylvania, where her family was one of the original homesteaders in the area dating back to the 1700s who later fought for independence in the American Revolution.

Stephanie graduated cum laude from the University of Maryland, College Park, with a Bachelor of Science degree in fiber chemistry in 1981. She married James Hendricks Lewis, MD, on September 25, 1983. They welcomed two sons, Adam Phillips Lewis and Alexander Thomas Lewis, and was devoted Nana to her two grandchildren, Charlotte (“Charlie”) and Graham. Her children and grandchildren were the lights of her life.

She spent a 30-year career as a sales representative and manager at GlaxoSmithKline Pharmaceuticals where she worked in the HIV/AIDS, oncology, and neurohealth divisions. She won the top sales and managerial awards and made life-long friends over her long career.

She launched a second career as a business coach and franchise consultant. As area representative for WaveMax, she built and operated her own laundromat. In addition, she worked for iScreen Vision helping pediatric offices detect vision problems in young children. She was very active in her business networking community, BNI Group, and was heavily involved with local animal rescue organizations.

A fabulous cook and baker, Stephanie delighted in cooking meals for her family, friends, employees, and others. Her brisket and Boston Cream Pie were legendary. A talented musician, she was an accomplished organist and pianist. She grew up sewing her own clothes and was famous for knitting baby sweaters and car blankets for all her friends’ new arrivals. Together with her husband, she traveled the world and explored more than 90 countries on six continents with plans to visit the remainder.

She is survived by her husband, Jim, sons Adam and Alex, daughter-in-law Christin, grandchildren Charlie and Graham, her brother Thomas Siegfried and wife Patricia, sister Lenore Zahorik, her uncle Robert Hahn and wife Catherine, a large extended family, and innumerous close friends.

Memorial services will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2026, at 1:00 pm in the chapel at Gardens of Remembrance Memorial Gardens in Clarksburg, Maryland. In lieu of flowers, we ask that donations be made to her favorite animal rescue organizations, A Home of Their Own, and the Mary Ann Morris Animal Society (“MAMAs on the Move”).
