Stephen Allen Nelick passed away on January 4, 2024, at his home in Washington, DC. He was 82 years old.

Steve was born to Samuel and Shirley Nelick on May 23, 1941, in Troy, New York. After graduating high school, he studied mathematics and statistics at Union College in Schenectady, New York, and earned an MBA at the University of Chicago.

He met the love of his life, Kathleen (neé Merritt), while they were working at Eastman Kodak in Rochester, New York. They were married in Washington, DC, in 1969.

Steve and Kathleen raised their son Adam in Washington, DC, where Steve worked for the Federal Reserve Board and the World Bank Group. After taking an early retirement, he filled his time challenging himself with new activities, like learning robotics and wowing his family by baking everything from pizza to bread to pies. A 45-year resident of Washington, DC, Steve enjoyed exploring his neighborhood through walks with Kathleen and biking on the Capital Crescent Trail.

Steve is preceded in death by his mother Shirley, his father Samuel, and his sister Sheri. He is survived by his wife of 54 years Kathleen, his son Adam (Katherine) Nelick, his grandson Samuel Nelick, and his sister Susan Reinhold.
