IN LOVING MEMORY OF
Stephen
Scheer
December 31, 1939 – September 9, 2025
On Tuesday, September 9, 2025, Stephen Scheer of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away suddenly. He was the beloved husband for 57 years of Diane Scheer (Schreiber), devoted father of Craig Scheer (Suzanne) and Mara Feldman (Matthew), cherished grandfather of Bennett Scheer, Amanda Feldman, Noah Feldman, and Zachary Feldman, and loving brother of Linda Lavinsky. He was preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Anna (Fuhrer) Scheer, and his brother, Richard Scheer.
Steve was born in Brooklyn, New York and moved to the Washington, D.C. area at age 13. A family-first man who lived life to its fullest and on his own terms, Steve had a big heart that he wore on his sleeve. He also had a remarkable memory and was an amazing storyteller, captivating his audiences with vivid descriptions of his life experiences. These included many happy—and often humorous—memories of time spent with relatives and lifelong friends.
Steve's unique ability to connect with people was the secret to his success as a salesman in the paper industry, a career he loved and that spanned nearly 60 years. He was having far too much fun as a salesman for B.W. Wilson Paper Company to retire and was still going strong when he died unexpectedly at age 85.
A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 12, 2025, at Garden of Remembrance Memorial Chapel, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871, with interment to immediately follow. Family and friends are invited to gather at the home of Diane Scheer that afternoon after the funeral through the evening of Sunday, September 14, with a Shiva Minyan to be held at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 13. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Hillandale Volunteer Fire Department or the American Heart Association .
