Sylvia Greenberg, beloved wife of the late Harold Greenberg and sister of the late Jack Kay, was born and raised in Washington, DC. Throughout her life she was extremely Philanthropic and involved in many local and National charities. She and her husband, Harold, were Founding Supporters of the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts and The Sylvia and Harold Greenberg Theatre at the American University in Washington, DC. Mrs. Greenberg served on the Board of Trustees of the American University in Washington, DC. for over 25 years. Along with her last husband, Harold, she established the Sylvia and Harold Greenberg Endowment for the Performing Arts Scholarship Fund over 30 years ago. She is survived by her son, Paul Greenberg and his wife Marcia, daughter, Beverly Halpert and her husband, Stuart and her son, Kenneth Greenberg and his husband, Kevin Baker. Loving Grandmother to Amy Halpert, Sarah Halpert, David Greenberg and Alexis Greenberg. Great-Grandmother to Ella, Oscar, Owen and Lucy Hecker and Olivia and June Peterson. Funeral Services will be held Today, April 18, 2018 at 10 a.m. at Adas Israel Congregation, located at 2850 Quebec St. NW., Washington, DC. Interment will follow at Judean Memorial Gardens, Olney, MD. The family will receive relatives and friends at Mrs. Greenberg's residence in Washington, DC. where Shiva will take place Wednesday and Thursday, April 18 and 19 with Minyan at 7:30 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to The Jewish Federation of Washington, DC. or The Sylvia and Harold Greenberg Endowment Scholarship Fund at American University.
