On Saturday, June 11, 2022, Beatrice Grand Kaplan, a Silver Spring, MD, resident for more than 65 years died of cardiac arrest. Beloved wife of the late Solomon Kaplan; devoted and much-loved mother of Debra Kaplan Rubin of South Orange, NJ, Leslie Kaplan Klein of State College, PA, David M. Kaplan of Chevy Chase, MD, and Michele D. Kaplan of Potomac, MD; cherished grandmother of Michael Rubin, Jared Kaplan, Julia Kaplan, Kayla Goodman and Cheryl Goodman; loving aunt of Howard Weissman and Marsha Weissman Pfeffer; also survived by her loving extended family and many friends. She also is survived by her son-in-law David Rubin and daughter-in-law Marlene Kaplan. Beatrice was predeceased by her sister Ann Weissman.
Beatrice served as a personnel manager in the federal government for nearly 40 years, working in agencies that included the Pentagon, the former US Department of Health, Education, and Welfare; the US Interior Department and the US Environmental Protection Agency dating to its formation in 1970. Beatrice had lived in Leisure World in Silver Spring since 2004.
Graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 14, 12:30 p.m. at Judean Memorial Gardens in Olney, MD. The family will be observing shiva on June 14 through June 16 with a shiva minyan at 8 p.m. Please contact Debra Rubin for more detail at firstname.lastname@example.org.
