Bernie Kolker, of Washington DC, passed away peacefully at the age of 99, surrounded by his family on Tuesday, January 25, 2022. Bernie was the devoted and loving husband of Ciss Kolker who predeceased him in 2018. They had been married 73 years. He was also predeceased by his son Steve Kolker and brothers Sidney, Joe and Irvin Kolker. He is survived by his sister Betty Shapiro and his sons Gary Kolker (Nancy), Jeff Kolker (Pamela), and daughter Tracy Kolker Ochsman (Bruce); and grandchildren Tom, Kelly, Courtney, Paris (Ben), January (Andy), Kate, Steven (Jill), Samantha, Jade (Jon), Chase and Lion. He was blessed with two great grandchildren Harris and Cash. Bernie attended Roosevelt High School where he excelled in all sports, especially football; attended George Washington University, and then served in the US Army, obtaining the rank of Captain. Upon returning home, he and his brothers founded The Washington Beef Company serving restaurants, hotels, clubs and schools in the greater Metropolitan Washington area. Because of his warm and gentle disposition, Bernie's clients were not only customers but friends. His devotion to family was paramount and he was cherished by all. Bernie will be greatly missed and his memory will live on through family and friends. Due to covid there will be a private family graveside service.
