Bernice A. Luxemburg, 95, of Rockville,MD, died Tuesday, February 28, 2017, at her home.
She was born in Bayonne, NJ and lived in Millburn, NJ for almost 50 years before moving to Rockville, MD four years ago.
Mrs. Luxemberg was a teacher for more than 25 years at various school systems in New Jersey, including at Wyoming Elementary School in Millburn. She was an active and Life Member of Hadassah. She was a longtime member of Congregation B'nai Israel, Millburn, NJ. Mrs. Luxemburg was an active community member and volunteer in the Millburn area as well as Newark Museum in Newark, NJ. She was also involved with Women's ORT.
She was predeceased by her husband Milton in 1989. She is survived by her four sons: Rabbi Jack Luxemburg and his wife Barbara Etkind, Norman Luxemburg, Maury Luxemburg and his wife Susan, and Richard Luxemburg and his wife Shari Harris; her seven grandchildren, Daniel, Michael, Lauren, Marcus, Ethan, Simon and Emma, and great-grandchildren Kaylee and Ava.
Services will be Sunday, March 5, 2017, at Menorah Chapels, Vauxhall, NJ, with burial following at Beth Israel Cemetery, Woodbridge, NJ. Donations in her memory can be made to Hadassah, Congregation B'nai Israel in Millburn, American Red Cross, or a charity of choice. Arrangements entrusted to Sagel Bloomfield Danzansky Goldberg Funeral Care, Rockville, MD.
