Carol Schwartz Plotkin

On Sunday, December 23, 2018, her 79th birthday, CAROL SCHWARTZ PLOTKIN, of Denver, Colorado, and formerly of Rockville and Potomac, Maryland, died of complications following recent surgery. Carol was born in New York City and spent her early childhood in the town of Lawrence, on Long Island, before moving with her family to Dallas, Texas. She attended the University of Oklahoma, where she was a member of Sigma Delta Tau Sorority. Carol was a 47-year resident of Montgomery County, Maryland and was long active in sisterhood at Temple Sinai and Temple Beth Ami, and in Brandeis Women. A renowned baker, Carol operated a catering business for a number of years, and supplied cakes for many Washington, DC area weddings. She was an avid horticulturalist and Maryland Master Gardener. She enjoyed travel, canasta, reading and visiting with her family. Carol was predeceased in 2010 by her loving husband of 50 years, Stanley B. Plotkin. Cherished mother of Mark (Teresa) Plotkin of Bethesda, Maryland and Bruce Plotkin (Judy Altenberg) of Englewood, Colorado; adored grandmother of Sarah Plotkin, Natalie Plotkin, Jeremy Plotkin and Gabrielle Plotkin; loving sister of Nina Sandler and the late Myron Schwartz; and dear aunt, great-aunt, cousin and friend to many others. A funeral service will be held Thursday, December 27, 2 p.m. at Temple Beth Ami, 14330 Travilah Road, Rockville, Maryland, 20850, 301-340-6818,www.bethami.org. Interment immediately following at Garden of Remembrance - Gan Zikaron Memorial Park, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871, 301-428-3000, www.gardenofremembrance.org. Shiva immediately following interment at the residence of Mark and Teresa Plotkin, concluding with minyan at approximately 7 p.m. Memorial contributions in Carol Plotkin's memory may be made to the charity of your choice.
