Obituary

Passed away peacefully on Friday, November 14, 2025. Born in Beaune, France February 20, 1940 and grew up in Paris. Christine came to the United States in 1961. She began her professional journey in Virginia as a French teacher at Loudoun Country Day School. After teaching for many years, Christine started a new career as a travel agent, eventually opening her own business that fostered her love of travel. She was also an avid and talented watercolor painter capturing village and floral scenes in vivid colors inspired by her years living in Florida. She is survived by her beloved husband, Yale Goldberg, son Jim Thornton (Kelli), daughter Annette Gerow (Ed), grandchildren Paul Thornton, Chandler Thornton, Allie Thornton, Eddie Gerow and Julia Gerow. Christine will also be missed by her stepchildren Alan Goldberg (Jill), Larry Goldberg (Laurie), Michael Goldberg (Charlene), Karen Matzkin, Laurie Hepler and many more step grandchildren. Graveside service will be held at Gardens of Remembrance, 14321 Comus Road, Clarksburg, Maryland 20871 on Wednesday, November 19th at 11:00am. Contributions can be made to Alzheimer's Foundation of America.
