Claire Pearl (Wurmbrand) Blagman passed away peacefully on May 4th at her home in Gainesville, Virginia with her family at her side. Born in the Bronx, New York on December 17, 1927 to George and Rose (Isaacs) Wurmbrand.
Claire was predeceased by her husband, Jack Blagman to whom was married for over 62 years. She is also predeceased by her brother Irwin and sister Janet (Tankleff) as well as her sister’s in law Jeanette (Blagman) Swetlow and Sally (Blagman) Sutter . She is survived by her children Diane Blagman (husband Michael Botelho), Robert Blagman and his life partner, Lauren Hirsch Williams; her grandchildren Hannah Botelho and Jason Blagman (Mari Provencher) and Erin Blagman. She also leaves many nieces, nephews, cousins, their children as well as many friends and caregivers and her beloved “granddog”, Ziggy.
Claire was able to travel the world with her husband and lived in New York, Connecticut, Ohio, California. She lived in Heritage Hunt in Gainesville, Virginia for the last 20 years. She loved a wide variety of activities- bingo, bowling and golf - and even got a hole-in-one. She also loved puzzles, flowers, growing tomatoes, collecting clown figures. Most notably, she was an excellent and prolific knitter and gifted many with sweaters, scarfs and blankets. She was also known for making the best roast beef ever.
A memorial will be held on May 25th at Gan Zikaron - Garden of Remembrance, in Clarksburg, Maryland. The service is expected to also be live-streamed. For the streaming services, please see the website below. https://www.gardenofremembrance.org/
