FRANCES “FRAN” MAGGIN (Age 96) of Rockville, Maryland passed away peacefully at her home October 16, 2021. Born Frances Robinson to Russian immigrants Julius Robinson and Fannie Aizikowitz on December 23, 1924, she relocated from Detroit, Michigan to the DC Metro area and married Bernard “Bob” Maggin in 1951. Together they had four sons.
Always devoted to her ever-growing family, Fran cherished large celebrations, holiday get-togethers, and spontaneous visits with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Fran loved witnessing and discussing her descendants’ latest achievements in education, business, relationships, sports, and the arts.
Fran was the consummate host, and an accomplished cook. She embraced new experiences and throughout her life relished learning through literature, opera, cuisine, conversation, and travel. She especially delighted in sharing stories from journeys throughout the world with her husband, Bob.
She was selfless in life, always tending to others. She gave her time generously, including decades of volunteer work at The Kennedy Center, Suburban Hospital, and The White House.
Fran was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her grandson Joshua, and her brothers Jack and Erwin Robinson. She leaves an exceptional legacy and is survived by her sons Robert (Mary), Richard (Anna), Wayne (Suzanne), and Kenneth (Susan); twelve grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 1 pm at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to either Mothers Against Drunk Driving or Give Well’s Maximum Impact Fund. The family will be observing shiva at their home Tuesday and Wednesday.
