Passed peacefully Saturday, July 16, 2016. Born New York City, Grace moved with her family to Washington, DC in 1920. She graduated from Central High School (now Cardoza) and attended George Washington University.
Prior to WWII, Grace worked for the Federal Government Treasury Department where she met and married Reuben Braunstein. They were married 61 years until Reuben''s death.
Grace was a homemaker and mother raising three children in Washington, DC and Bethesda, MD. She loved sports, especially golf which she took up at 50 continuing to enjoy into her 90''s.
Proceeded in death by parents, Sophie and Sol Nathanson, husband Reuben Braunstein, brother Sid Nathanson, sisters-in-law Rose Nathanson and Bernice Nathanson, and son-in-law Richard Zimmerman.
Her long life is celebrated by daughter, Arlene Zimmerman; sons, Ken Braunstein (Suzie) and Alan Braunstein (Debby); brother, Al Nathanson; grandchildren, Scott (Laurie) Zimmerman, Craig Zimmerman (Debbie), Julie Ehrlich (Howard), Evan Braunstein (Emily), Jeff Braunstein (Kjersti), Kate Kirley (Morgan), Leah Weigand (Matt), Sarah Braunstein, 16 great-grandchildren, loving nieces and nephews.
Private graveside funeral for family Tuesday. Friends invited for Shiva at Ken and Suzie Braunstein''s home Tuesday and Wednesday evening at 7:30 p.m.
