On 15th, March, 2024, Helma Bliss Goldmark,
Devoted mother of Susan (Kai Bird) Gloria Goldmark; Cherished grandmother of Joshua (Valeria Meiller) Kodai Goldmark Bird.
Helma was a courageous woman, born in Graz, Austria, who suffered greatly during the Holocaust. She assumed a new identity and spied in the German Army headquarters in Rome for the resistance movement of Italy. She was a survivor, married, divorced and made a life for herself and her daughter in New York. Helma spoke at least five languages fluently and became an expert in immigration law. She relocated to the Promenade building in Bethesda, proudly served on its Board and wrote a witty monthly newsletter for all its residents for many years. She was a friend to many around the world. Helma will be missed.
