On April 15, 2021, at age 90, only a day before his 91st birthday. Herbert Richard Horwitz passed away peacefully at Casey House (Montgomery Hospice) surrounded by his family. He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Claudette Leveque Horwitz, devoted daughter Michele Cornwell and son-in-law Bruce, devoted son Alexander Horwitz and daughter-in-law Shelly, and six cherished grandsons: Daniel, Benjamin, Michael and Joey Cornwell of Maryland, and Nicholas and Jacob Horwitz of Georgia. He is the dear brother of Michael Horwitz (and his wife Michele) of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He was predeceased by his parents Bernard and Margaret Horwitz, and by his son, David Horwitz. Herbert was a Korean War veteran and retired as Deputy Chief of the Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C. An accomplished artist, avid reader, and author, he also loved to travel, and was happiest in Bethany Beach surrounded by his beloved family. Herbert will be interred at Norbeck Memorial Park in Olney, Maryland.
