Of Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully at his home on January 21, 2021. He leaves behind his wife Elizabeth of 59 years. He is also survived by his daughter Terri Strassburger (Rob) and his grandchildren Jack and Eva; son Mark Strassburger. He was preceded in death by his brothers Fred Strassburger (Judy) and Harvey Strassburger.
He was born in Mannheim, Germany in 1934, and immigrated to the U.S. in 1936. He attended Pierre S. Dupont HS class of 1952 and earned his B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Delaware in 1957. He subsequently achieved a Masters in Chemistry from Georgetown University. He enjoyed scouting and earned his Eagle Scout in 1949. He was a track standout in his HS and college career. His professional career as a chemist took him to the National Bureau of Standards and from there to the Carrier Research Corporation in Syracuse, NY. He then returned to the DC area where he worked for Gillette until his retirement.
He was an avid photographer and loved to travel and kayak. He had a special place for summers in Maine and skiing in Vermont. He loved his dogs, grandchildren and was a gifted woodworker. He often spent time gardening and playing bridge with friends.
