Michael Alan Dinkin, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on Monday, March 25, 2024 at the age of 69. He is survived by his devoted sons, Jesse and Malachi Dinkin; his sister, Lee Anne Dinkin; and brothers, Garry (Nelia) Dinkin and Daniel (Jodi) Dinkin. He is also survived by his parents-in-law, Samuel and Barbara Goldberg; siblings-in-law, Robert (Heidi) Goldberg, Thomas (Linda) Goldberg, Margaret Goldberg, and Michael (Leslie) Goldberg; and his thirteen nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his loving wife, Karen Goldberg, in 2005; and his parents, Raymond and Mildred Dinkin; and his brother-in-law, Bernard Fields.
Mike was born in Neptune, New Jersey on November 2, 1954. He moved to Baltimore with his parents at age 4. He is a graduate of Baltimore Polytechnic Institute and the University of Maryland and earned his MBA from University of Virginia Darden School of Business. His professional and personal life involved fair housing, farmland preservation, environmental protection, and intramural athletics. Mike’s devotion to these causes was expressed by an entire career in nonprofit pursuits. His greatest accomplishment and deepest satisfaction was realized in the raising of his two young sons after Karen’s passing.
Funeral Service will be held on Thursday, March 28, 2024, 11 a.m. at Temple Beth Ami in Rockville, Maryland. Luncheon will be held immediately following at Temple Beth Ami’s Social Hall.
Shiva will be held at the home of Dan and Jodi Dinkin in Reisterstown, MD on Thursday at 7:30 PM, as well as Sunday, and Monday evenings at 7:00 PM. Visitors are also welcome on Sunday from 11 AM to 3 PM.
