Miriam Ginsberg Rothchild, LTC, US Army (Ret) passed away on Tuesday, December 28, 2021 in Rockville, MD. She was 96 years old. LTC Rothchild was born in Washington, DC, and attended Roosevelt High School. She graduated from University of Cincinnati Nursing, University of Maryland (MS in Nursing) and Columbia University (MS Biostatistics). Miriam served in the Army Nurse Corps from 1950 to 1970 and was awarded the Legion of Merit, retiring as Chief of the Dept. of Nursing Research, Walter Reed Institute of Research. She also was awarded the Army Commendation Medal.
She and her husband, Philip L. Rothchild, moved to Leisure World in 1977. She became an artist in her sixties and enjoyed painting until her death. After the death of her dear husband in 2005, she moved to Ingleside at King Farm. She is survived by her loving family: nephew Robert S. Ginsberg, Silver Spring; step-daughters Marcy Gross, Annapolis, MD and Jeri Kraft, Highland Beach, FL; five wonderful grandchildren and seven beautiful great-grandchildren.
Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery with a memorial service. The family requests that expressions of sympathy be made by donations to a charity of your choice.
