Morris “Chic” Campi
On the 10th of September, 2022, Morris Campi (fondly known as “Chic”), of Leisure World, Fairways North, beloved husband of Florence Campi for 58 years, devoted father of Lisa and Joseph Campi and cherished grandfather of Shea and Samuel, passed away at Northwest Hospital.
A child of the depression, Morris was born on April 20, 1932 in Brooklyn, New York. He served in the Korean War where he was stationed in Korea and the Philippines, in the Navy and as a member of the Seabees. After earning a Bachelor of Physics from Brooklyn College, Morris went to work for “The Diamond Ordinance Fuse Lab (DOFL)” which later became known as the “Harry Diamond Laboratory”. Morris earned both a Master’s and a PhD in Physics from American University in Washington, D.C. After marrying Florence Friedlander in 1963 and beginning a family Morris later went to work at the NSA until he retired in approximately 1995. Morris was known for many scholarly and practical innovations in the field of physics. Notably, in 1981 he invented the Design of Microstrip Linear Array Antennas about which he wrote many scholarly articles and for which he won an award for Outstanding Achievement for a Commendable Contribution to Science from the U.S. Military in 1982.
Morris loved his family, movies and the art of film production, music, science, musical theatre, roller-skating, food, and cooking devices and he greatly enjoyed sharing his love with those closest to him. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather, he was beloved by his family and friends, and he will be greatly missed.

Graveside funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 15th,2022 at 1:00pm (please arrive at 12:30pm) at Judean Memorial Gardens.
