Rosalie Wright, 90, of Rockville, Maryland, passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023. Born in Montreal, Quebec, Canada on June 16, 1932, Rosalie was the daughter of Celia (nee Richler) and Sidney Goldstein, sister to Jack Goldstein (Jeannie), Otto Goldstein (Ann), and Sherill Lerner (Norman), all of whom predeceased her.
Rosalie was an artistic and adventurous woman who lived her life to the fullest. She was a proud, daring and extraordinary matriarch who instilled confidence and independence in her children, grandchildren and loved ones. She was known for her resilience, courage and spunk; she was adored and admired by many. Rosalie loved to go to the beach, dance, sing, cook for her family and experience a wide range of diverse cuisines, her favorite being a good steak and a juicy lobster. Rosalie was young at heart until her last days and loved every baby she laid eyes on. She had a meticulous sense of style and a keen eye for detail, which made her an incredible creator, stylist, seamstress and upholsterer.
Once Rosalie’s children were off to college, she became a bookkeeper for private enterprise. In her free time, she enjoyed pottery, sewing, reading, cooking, watching the news, old movies, westerns, and mysteries on TV. She was an independent and compassionate woman who lived life on her terms, passionately, unapologetically and always happiest surrounded by friends and family.
Rosalie is survived by her four children, Gail Segal Elmore and her husband Len, Martin Segal and his wife Carol, Nadene Wright, and Michelle Wright Romero and her husband Fernando. She is also survived by six grandchildren who were her pride and joy, Allyson Bronner (Scott) and Robyn Rifkin (Marshall), Stephen Elmore (Casey), Matthew Elmore (Catarina), Elias and Eliana Romero, three great-grandchildren, Myles and Rory Bronner and Shay Rifkin and a host of extended family including nieces, nephews and many grand nieces, and grand nephews.
A Graveside Funeral service will be held at the Garden of Remembrance on Thursday, May 11, 2023, at 3 pm ET. The family will be receiving guests in Maryland Thursday 6-9, Friday 4-8 and Sunday 5-8 , and in New York Tuesday 4-8. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation.
