He was born as “Yuen Pui Choi” in Hong Kong in 1949, and at the wise age of 11, he officially renamed himself as Yuen Siu Sum, as he would be known through his life (a true story that his children only learned while sorting his documents recently). Ever forward-looking, Siu Sum moved to the United States in 1987 to start a life with new opportunities for his family. He embodied a strong work ethic and excelled in his career as an automotive parts specialist for luxury brands such as Audi, Porsche, Mercedes-Benz, BMW, and Dodge. While he may have worked too hard and missed the chance to retire, he enjoyed fishing (except when the kids tagged along and then he only got to hook worms) and tapped into his talents for playing the keyboard and guitar. He also practiced kung fu moves (mostly in his younger days) and making people laugh with his witty, sarcastic humor. Most of all, he enjoyed being a foodie and could whip up the most exquisite dishes.
Siu Sum will be missed by wife, Fung Ching (Linda) and four children, Victoria, Melissa, Dickson, and Pricilla, who be forever grateful for the support and opportunities he provided selflessly.
