On August 29, 2023, Wallace Bloom, 90, of Davie, Florida and Silver Spring, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by his family.
Wallace was born in 1933 in Brooklyn, New York, the second of 6 siblings of Max and Eva Bloom. Wallace spent his childhood in Queens working to support his family’s bakery and looking after his siblings. Wallace graduated from Jamaica High School and would go on to attend Queens College while continuing to work in manufacturing. During this time Wallace would meet his lifelong love and future wife Sabina.
Wallace proudly served his country and enlisted in the U.S. Army during the Korean War serving as a medical corpsman.
After his service Wallace and Sabina began a life together that took them up and down the east coast working and living in South Florida, Connecticut, and ultimately raising their family in Levittown, New York on Long Island surrounded by family and friends.
The ultimate self-made man Wallace built his reputation as a principled manufacturing executive with Ideal Toy Company contributing to the development of many classic toy designs. Wallace would later take the operations lead with Quantum Instruments, growing the company into a solid electronics manufacturing entity. Always the entrepreneur, Wallace and Sabina owned and maintained a successful coin operated laundromat for over 13 years.
Throughout his life Wallace’s focus was on family, particularly his children and grandchildren.
Wallace is survived by his sibling Allan Bloom (Kathy), children Jeffery (Caroline), Michael (Michele), Roberta Bloomberg (Val), and his nine grandchildren, Haley Herbst, Zach Bloom, Garrett Bloomberg, Joshua Bloomberg, Justin Bloomberg, Jeremy Bloom, Eli Bloom, Jenna Bloom, Ally Bloom.
